To fit the children’s
play equipment into this restricted
yard, required cutting into the
existing slope and engineering
a retaining wall to control the
fragile slope without taking away
from the playful feel. We constructed
railroad tie retaining walls,
and to soften their effect we
added a marine piling facing,
also acting as climbing logs.
Native beach grasses hold the
slope from eroding into the lawn
and planting beds below.
